Inspiration for this game comes directly from Bee by Brandon Blaylock. I wanted to make a game with the same basic mechanics, but with a hint function and custom games on-demand.
Portions of the code are adapted from Word Finder by Kahlee Thomson, a similar game which was written in Python.
The honeycomb CSS is adapted from Temani Afif on this Stack Overflow thread.
The Scrabble dictionaries are sourced from Kamil Mielnik on GitHub.
The basic blacklist for words (removing slurs and such) is taken from the Seattle Scrabble Club's page on expurgated words, then tweaked to match my own preferences (removing a few more, adding back in some words that are rude but not offensive, etc.)
Other bits of code were taken from various W3Schools tutorials.
